Yarnfield Lane – Surface Dressing

Parish Council raises concerns about the quality of the surface dressing work on Yarnfield Lane and calls for further work to be done.

Published: 14 April 2026

Over the last few weeks, there have been numerous social media comments about the quality of the road surface dressing work done by contractors working for Staffordshire Highways.

The parish council has raised these concerns with the county council, citing both the quality of the work and the way the work was managed.

At the parish council meeting on 13 April 2026, county councillor Sean Bagguley said, ‘The most probable reason for this is the changeable early-season surface temperatures that we have had at the start of this season. I have spoken with the team, who will ensure that they keep the sites swept and tidy until such time later in the season when they can get back to carry out further work.”

The parish council is now trying to establish when the repair work will be done and also asking that improvements are made to the way the road closures and diversions are managed.
